Mt Heale Hut - Department of Conservation

Information

Mt Heale Hut is one of the two huts located in the Aotea Conservation Park as part of the multi day Aotea Track hike. Just a 3 hour hike via the Windy Canyon (Palmers Track) route, 4 hours via the Kaitoke Hot Springs Track, 4 hours from the Kaiaraara Hut via the Kaiaraara Track and the summit of Hirakimata (Mt Hobson), and 3 hours from the Kaiaraara Hut via the South Fork Track.

Two large decks boast incredible views of Te Hauturu-o-Toi (Little Barrier Island), the Broken Islands and the pinnacles of Hirakimata (Mt Hobson).

Backcountry Hut Passes and Hut Tickets cannot be used at this hut.

Fires are not permitted at any time.
Dogs are not permitted on any DoC tracks or land.

Bookings are essential.
