Blind Bay

Information

Located at the end of Camerton road, Blind Bay is a large flat sandy beach located in Okupu, along the west coast of the island North of Tryphena. This sheltered bay is the perfect place to take the family for a beach day or picnic under the huge pohutukawa trees. Dolphins are often seen close to the shoreline in Okupu making this a beautiful spot to head out in a kayak.

Dotterel nest along the shoreline, dogs are allowed but please be responsible as they nest between September to March.

There are lots of accommodation options in Okupu, mainly holiday rentals but no shops, apart from Monique Endt’s workshop and gallery that opens up in the summer months. Make sure you grab your supplies in Claris before you head to the beach.

To discover more of Okupu, follow Blind Bay road all the way around to the jetty.
