Harataonga Campground - Department of Conservation

Information

Located down a scenic gravel road, the Harataonga campsite is the perfect spot to start the Harataonga Coastal Walkway & Loop track. Set back from Harataonga beach in a sheltered location donned with Pohutukawa trees, the campsite makes you feel that much more secluded on our already isolated island. The beach is quite most of the year and perfect for snorkeling, diving, fishing and swimming.

Heavy, long vehicles such as buses and large campervans may have difficulty getting back up the gravel road. But for the most part this campsite is accessible to campervans, cars and caravans.

Fires are not permitted at any time.
Dogs are not permitted at any DoC campgrounds.

For more information and reserving a site, please see the Department of Conservation website below.
