Gooseberry Flat & Pa Beach

Information

Gooseberry is a favourite for families. This white sand beach is located right in the heart of Tryphena Harbour at the bottom of Blackwell drive and just around the corner from Stonewall village.

Pa Beach is tucked away just below Stonewall village, fringed with draping Pohutakawa trees othering shade and a great place to explore for kids, with many small dinghies belonging to locals lining the high tide mark.

Between Gooseberry Flat and Pa beach is a beautiful headland, with very unique and beautiful purple stone, covered with more towering Pohutakawa trees. At low tide you can walk around the headland between the two beaches and take a look at the purple caves. Where sand bars have formed on the beach you’ll find warm pools of water that sit in the sun. Whilst the tide goes out these spots are the perfect place to take small kids to splash around.
