It’s the perfect place to embark on a stargazing adventure! \nTo get the most out of your time under the stars consider a stargazing experience with small local business Good Heavens. They provide guided stargazing experiences – on top of a sand dune. Here\, the team provide moon chairs and blankets\, so that you can lean back in comfort and wonder…\nIs there a better place to appreciate our place in the universe? \nExperiences are scheduled 2-4 times a week\, generally on Tuesdays/Fridays and Sundays\, but may be brought forward or postponed if the weather dictates this. Just book in on your preferred date\, your first night on the island if possible\, and note any additional dates in the comments. The Good Heavens Team is looking forward to taking you stargazing!

This event is the biggest annual fundraiser for Aotea Family Support Group and could not happen without the generous support of businesses and many community members. It is incredibly heartwarming to see and be apart of. \nLegendary duo Sean Kelly & Gerry O’Neil from The Celtic Connection will be entertaining you for the day\, supported by local artists Zarina and Shaun\, and Shane Langford. Aotea Audio are supporting the day with their sound equipment! Thanks guys. The wonderful Brett O’Riley will once again be MC for the Auction. There will be plenty of seating and shade provided\, thanks to Kaitoke school and the O’Shea’s\, but it would be cool for people to still bring a picnic blanket / umbrella. There will be a fantastic selection of stall holders and food vendors. If you haven’t already\, please get in contact to book a stall (contact details below). \nThere are lots of kids games planned\, with the tennis court sectioned into various kids games\, a space for the littlies to colour and play\, water slide and the always fun and entertaining tug of war\, sack race\, egg and spoon\, hobby horse racing and an adult milk sculling competition! \nThere is an incredible Women’s Pamper Raffle going on sale Monday 16th December at THE ROCKS\, winner drawn at the event. DESCRIPTION:Aotea Great Barrier Island is a Dark Sky Sanctuary. This means that our island is protected from the harmful effects of light pollution\, forever. Aotea’s skies are exceptionally clear and dark. Without the impact of artificial light\, the island is widely considered as one of the best places in the Southern Hemisphere to view the night sky. It’s the perfect place to embark on a stargazing adventure!  \nTo get the most out of your time under the stars consider a stargazing experience with small local business Good Heavens. They provide guided stargazing experiences – on top of a sand dune. Here\, the team provide moon chairs and blankets\, so that you can lean back in comfort and wonder…\nIs there a better place to appreciate our place in the universe? \nExperiences are scheduled 2-4 times a week\, generally on Tuesdays/Fridays and Sundays\, but may be brought forward or postponed if the weather dictates this. Just book in on your preferred date\, your first night on the island if possible\, and note any additional dates in the comments. The Good Heavens Team is looking forward to taking you stargazing!

DESCRIPTION:Aotea Brewing Summer Sessions are back for 2025 and we have one of our favourite bands returning to the motu. \nBlack Comet\, the multi-dimensional galactic funk collective founded by Ninja\, Laughton Kora (Kora\, L.A.B\, Fly My Pretties)\, delivers a groove-based journey infused with storytelling. With the band consisting of Stan Bicknell on drums \, Dan Antunovich on bass\, Poihakena Reid on keys\, sax and talkbox\, this ensemble is talent a-plenty. With the desire to express the band as a “live jam”\, they encapsulate this on the stage with their high-energy\, tight performance\, vibing off each other’s musical force. \nSince we last saw them they have been busy and this year released their first album ‘Episode 1: Looking For a New Planet’. \nThe band has been compared to the “ Millennium Falcon making the Kessel run in 12 parsecs” and we can’t wait to have them set alight the brewery in January! \nAs always at our Summer Sessions alongside wicked tunes in our chilled spot there will be a great bar range with delicious beer brewed onsite and an awesome new menu in the Good Neighbours foodtruck. \nWhat better way to spend the first Sunday of 2025. \nUnder 18s welcome with supervision from an adult ticket holder.
