Islands and Exiles: Writing from afar, with Paula Morris (Ngati Wai, Ngati Whatua)
Paula Morris (Ngati Wai, Ngati Whatua) is an award-winning novelist, short story writer and essayist who runs the Master in Creative Writing programme at University of Auckland.
She’ll explore how island writers and exiles have always brought an edgy, important voice to fiction.
Join Paula at the Currach Irish Pub at 5pm on the 17th July 2022 for this talk.
Our intention is to arouse curiosity and conversation that takes our world and communities forward.
This year’s theme is The Winter of our Discontent.
In a world gone viral and at the brink of war, we’ll distill a unique island perspective on what these global disruptions might mean for the future of individuals and communities.
We will explore current realities of living with uncertainty through the topics of money, psychology, writing and science.
Bring an open mind and be prepared to go home refreshed.
‘The Winter of our Discontent’ Sunday fireside talks will be held at the Currach May to September, hosting a variety of guest speakers.
