Getting Here

Great Barrier Island is easily accessible by air or by sea.

By Sea – 4 and a half hours

Ferry operator Sealink transports passengers and cars from Wynyard Quarter in Auckland, to Tryphena in the south, with some sailings to Port Fitzroy in the North. This trip takes 4 and a half hours.

By Air – 30 minutes from Auckland

Regular flights are scheduled from Auckland Domestic terminal, visit Fly My Sky and Barrier Air to find a flight that suits you. Several flights a week also connect the island to Auckland’s Northshore and bookings can be made to fly from Ardmore, Auckland. If you want to get to the island from outside Auckland, Sunair also operate flights from Tauranga, Whitianga, Whangerei and Hamilton.

There are plenty of ways to get here, we recommend checking out the options finding out what suits you best.
